Man Rescues Driver From Burning Vehicle of 2016

" I think Matt Robinson may very well have saved a mans life",Khuns said friday evening. It was of his 1998 chevrolet S10 pick up truck if Matt Robinson had not been driving on the Altamont-farina black top (300th st.) shortly after the wreck. Police said an edgewood man may have saved the life of a motorist involved in a fiery wreck south of Altamont thursday evening. Chief Deputy Paul Khuns of the Effingham county Sherrifs department said it is possible that Jason Fletcher,38,of Farina, may not have survived the crash. Khun's said Robinson pulled Fletcher from the burning S10 and rendered aid until emergency personnel could arrive. Fletcher was air lifted to Barnes Jewish Hospital in saint Louis. He was in stable condition friday evening, a hospital spokes women said. Khun's said, Fletchers truck caught fire in the engine compartment and Robinson pulled him from the burning vehicle. " I just did what anybody else would do, he said. " I just happened to be the first one there". Robinson said the wreck happened in front of him as he was on his way home, said it was nothing heroic. Robinson also said other passers-by stopped after he did. One of the other passers-by  who stopped had a small fire extinguisher that was used to knock down the truck fire,he said. The biggest challenge Robinson could recall was getting the truck door open.
